Introducing Our New Mobility Scooter: Ren

Introducing Our New Mobility Scooter: Ren

_______________________________________________________________________________

This winter we are introducing our new mobility scooter, Ren. Ren is a new version of Lupin, identical in appearance but with more power and features.

Here are some of the new features:

  • Double Motor
  • Whereas Lupin only has one motor that drives the rear right wheel, Ren will have two motors that drive both rear wheels. This will give it a lot more power, especially driving over rougher terrain.

  • Front Drum Brake and Rear Disk Brakes
  • Lupin’s brakes are disk brakes on the rear wheel. Ren will provide extra protection with a front drum brake as well as rear disk brakes.

  • LCD Display
  • Whilst Lupin has a light up display showing the mode and battery charge, Ren will come with a more advanced LCD screen that will display the speed, battery level and mileage.

  • Faster Charging Time
  • Ren’s batteries come with a faster charging time of between 4 - 6 hours compared to 10 - 12 hours required to fully charge Lupin.

  • Maximum Weight Capacity
  • This is a specification of Ren that is going to be very beneficial, because the weight capacity is 165kg / 25 stone / 363lbs. This is in comparison to a max load capacity of 100kg for Lupin.

  • Max incline
  • Ren is capable of steeper inclines, anything up to 15 degrees compared to Lupin which can handle inclines up to 8 degrees.

  • Faster
  • Lupin can go at speeds of up to 8mph, whereas Ren can go up to 12mph. However, it’s important to remember that the legal speed in public places is anything up to 4mph.

  • Weighs 28 kg
  • Due to the extra features, Ren is heavier than Lupin at 28kg with batteries and 26kg without. In comparison, Lupin is 23kg with batteries and 21kg without.

What Should you Consider When Deciding Which Scooter Is More Suitable For You?

Ren and Lupin are the same in appearance, but Ren provides extra features and more power. Here are some important things to consider when deciding between the two models.

    Dimensions

The dimensions of the scooters are exactly the same, but the weight is different. If the lightweight element of the scooter is important to you, then it is possible that the benefits of Lupin being lightweight outweigh the advantages of the new features of Ren.

We recommend removing the batteries when lifting the scooter to make it lighter, so this is always an option if you want a mobility scooter with the advanced features that Ren has.

    Weight Capacity

The further the rider is from the weight limit, the better the performance of the scooter will be. Therefore, if you are close to, or exceeed, the weight limit of Lupin (100kg / 220lbs / 15.7 stone) then we recommend purchasing Ren to ensure that the performance of the scooter is optimised.

This is especially important when you plan on using the scooter to go shopping, as the weight of the rider and any shopping will need to be within this limit for the scooter to operate as it should.

It’s also important to note that the speed of the scooter will be impacted by the weight of the user.

    Incline

If you live in a hilly area then you will benefit from the extra power and incline capabilities that Ren can provide. If you live in a place that is relatively flat, or if you just intend to use the scooter in shopping centres and supermarkets, then you might find that Lupin is perfect for your requirements.

We know that the additional features of Ren aren’t going to be important to everyone which is why we want to help you find the model that would suit you best.
