To purchase a mobility scooter free of VAT you need to declare that you are 'chronically sick or disabled' and that the goods or services are for your own personal or domestic use. This is a self-certification system – we do not require proof of your impairment.
A person is 'chronically sick or disabled' if he or she is a person with either:
- a physical or mental impairment which has a long term and substantial adverse effect upon his or her ability to carry out everyday activities or
- a condition which the medical profession treats as a chronic sickness.
It does not include an elderly person who is not disabled or chronically sick or any person who is only temporarily disabled or incapacitated, such as with a broken limb.

Unfolding The Monarch Air Mobility Scooter
- Adjust the handlebar tiller: Locate the adjustment knob on the tiller. Loosen the knob to allow movement. Set the tiller to your preferred angle for comfortable operation. Firmly retighten the knob to secure the tiller in place.
- Raise the seat: Grasp the seat firmly with both hands. Lift the seat upwards in a smooth motion. Continue lifting until you hear a distinct click. This click indicates the seat is fully extended and locked in position.
Folding The Monarch Air Mobility Scooter
- Fold the seat: Locate the folding pin on the side of the seat. Pull the pin out to release the seat mechanism. Gently push the seat downwards until it's completely folded.
- Adjust the handlebar tiller: Loosen the adjustment knob on the tiller. Carefully push the tiller downwards.
Guide it until it clicks into place on the back of the folded seat. Retighten the adjustment knob to secure the tiller in its folded position.

To unfold the Monarch Air, begin by adjusting the handlebar tiller to your desired angle. Loosen the handlebar tiller using the knob located on the tiller. Once set, retighten the knob to secure the tiller in place. Lift the seat upwards until it clicks into place, indicating the scooter is ready for use.
Folding:
To fold the Monarch Air, start by folding the seat. Locate the folding pin on the side of the seat and pull it out. Push the seat downwards until it folds down completely. Next, loosen the handlebar tiller using the knob on the tiller. Push the handlebar tiller down until it clicks into place on the back of the folded seat. Tighten the tiller handle to secure it in position.

Where is the charging port located on the Monarch Air?
The charging port on the Monarch Air is located below the driving controls. The battery can also be removed for separate charging.
To charge directly in the scooter, connect the adaptor lead to the charger and plug it into the adaptor socket at the side of the control panel.
To charge outside the scooter, push forward on the battery to release it from its port. Connect the charger to the battery and plug it into a mains socket for charging.
