To purchase a mobility scooter free of VAT you need to declare that you are 'chronically sick or disabled' and that the goods or services are for your own personal or domestic use. This is a self-certification system – we do not require proof of your impairment.

A person is 'chronically sick or disabled' if he or she is a person with either:

  • a physical or mental impairment which has a long term and substantial adverse effect upon his or her ability to carry out everyday activities or
  • a condition which the medical profession treats as a chronic sickness.

It does not include an elderly person who is not disabled or chronically sick or any person who is only temporarily disabled or incapacitated, such as with a broken limb.

Folding & Unfolding

Folding Your Zinnia X Mobility Scooter

  1. Lower the seat: Locate the lever under the seat. Firmly clasp and hold this lever inwards. While holding the lever, gently lower the seat downwards.
    Release the lever once the seat is fully lowered.
  2. Initiate automatic folding:
    Option 1: Using the key fob remote. Press the 'lock' button on the remote.
    Option 2: Using the scooter controls. Locate the folding button at the footrest. Press this button to begin folding.
  3. Complete the folding process: The scooter will automatically fold itself.
    Wait until the folding mechanism has completely stopped moving. Ensure the scooter is fully closed and locked in its folded position.

Unfolding Your Zinnia X Mobility Scooter

  1. Initiate automatic unfolding:
    Option 1: Using the key fob remote. Press the 'unlock' button on the remote.
    Option 2: Using the scooter controls. Locate the unfolding button at the footrest. Press this button to begin unfolding.
  2. Allow full unfolding: The scooter will automatically unfold itself. Wait until the unfolding mechanism has completely stopped moving.
    Note: The seat will remain in its lowered position as it requires manual lifting.
  3. Raise the seat: Locate the lever under the seat.
    Clasp and hold this lever inwards. While holding the lever, lift the seat upwards. Continue lifting until you hear a click, indicating the seat is fully upright and locked in position. Release the lever.

What type of tyres does the Zinnia X have?

The Zinnia X is equipped with solid PU (polyurethane) tyres. These tyres are durable, puncture-proof, and designed to provide a smooth and stable ride without the maintenance requirements of traditional air-filled tyres.

Can I fold the Zinnia X mobility scooter manually?

No, you cannot fold the scooter manually. The seat needs to be folded manually, but the scooter itself features an automatic folding mechanism.

This can be activated either with the key fob remote or by pressing a button on the mobility scooter, providing convenience and ease of use.

Are the armrests detachable?

Yes, the armrests are detachable. You have the option to remove them if you do not wish to use them, allowing for greater flexibility and comfort based on your personal preferences.

Can you charge the batteries inside the scooter?

Yes, you can charge the batteries while they are inside the scooter.

The charger comes with an adaptor lead that allows you to charge the batteries either together when they are in the scooter or individually if you remove them.

This provides flexibility in how you choose to charge your scooter's batteries

Can the Zinnia X be pulled along?

Yes, the Zinnia X can be pulled along slightly. The best way to do this is by using the front tiller for guidance.

However, be careful not to lift the scooter using the tiller, as this can cause damage. Instead, gently pull the scooter along to move it short distances.

What if I have limited mobility in my right hand? Can I still operate the scooter?

Yes, you can still operate the scooter even if you have limited mobility in your right hand. The Zinnia X features a wig-wag handle, which allows you to control the scooter using either hand.

By pushing the handle away from you or pulling it towards you, you can drive forward or reverse, making it accessible for users with varying levels of hand mobility.
